Sealine 365

Today’s assignment was to Survey this Sealine 365. She’s not young at 25 years, but you get a lot for your money at this age, and they are still stylish, very spacious, and a great family boat.

This example has the twin twin 200hp Volvos on legs. Not the fastest in the world but she should cruise at about 21, top speed 25 knots. But that’s not what they are about, where they score is their massive accommodation and cockpit. Length overall I believe is about 40ft. I think her hull was also used for the Ambassador models

A few (six) were made with three AD41s!. However, the centre engine had to be taken out to get the outer ones out. The centre leg was also a different length to the outer ones. Triple engined ones were widely reckoned to be a waste of time as the extra weight and drag of the third engine virtually cancelled out any power gain, plus much more fuel, extra maintenance etc.

Charger and inverter combined.

Unusual! Bow and stern thrusters...

  • RCD Category C (inshore).

Sheerline 740

The Sheerline 740 Aft Cockpit provides a perfect entry craft into river cruising. Fold-down screens and hood make this an ideal cruiser for inland waterways with restricted heights. The spacious aft cockpit features a large bench seat to the rear with twin adjustable helmsman's bucket seats. Well positioned stainless steel grab rails all round make for a safe craft for crew to walk around the outside. Despite its size, full standing headroom is a feature throughout this vessel. The forward cabin features two 'V' berths with the option of an infill making a double. The galley and dinette area provides seating for four in comfort and converts into a double berth. A shower and toilet compartment completes the high quality accommodation.

In most cases with a stock boat at Norfolk Yacht Agency their preparation will include a polish, antifoul and engine service where necessary, then you will be invited for a comprehensive handover to demonstrate and explain the boat’s equipment.  After handover, the engines and gearboxes are warranted against major faults for the next 3 months.

Fairline Phantom 32

I've got three of these popular Classic Cruisers to Survey over the next few weeks. Although it doesn't look quite so radical as the original Fairline Fury, the Fairline 32 Phantom sports a similar, low profile flying bridge, well forward and recessed into the superstructure; again it’s the only helm resulting in a spacious and uncluttered interior. The boat was designed by John Bennett. Fairline launched the Phantom in 1974 and built 310 of them up to 1982.

Surveyors comments generally: One of the easiest and most forgotten forms of maintenance is routine inspection of fluid levels. Checking the engine and stern-drive lubricant levels regularly allow you to spot problems before they become disasters.
If a milky white liquid is found on the dipstick when checking the engine or stern drive lubricant, water is in the system. Investigate immediately.

These clever concepts essentially positions the cockpit above the cabins which gave extra cabin space plus an elevated helm position.

All craft were outdriven with a range of Volvo Petrols and diesel options. This example has the bigger Volvo 41A'S 200HP.
