Happy Newyear 2014

Youth is when you're allowed to stay up late on New Year's Eve.  Middle age is when you're forced to! lol

Good health to all my readers... and a very prosperous Newyear to you all.... Steve.

Grand Banks Refit Xmas 2014

I've had a great couple days Christmas Hols with my friends and family and now its back to the boat (with a bag full of lovely prezzies!)  and to crack on with the refurb of the aft cabin. Its nearly London boat show time which means I will start getting busy with work, so I have to make the most of every minute available.... or this ‘Old Girl’ wont be finished for summer!

Making up the 2nd template for the new lining panels. To left: Rotten part of bulkhead cut-out and replaced.

After replacing the rotten bulkhead in the aft shower compartment, Ive re-clad it in Marine Ply... just needs a good wood sealer now. How do you like our bath!

New carpet lining for some of the bulkheads - the grey paints just the undercoat before the cream finish..

My dear old Mum painted this lovely pic about 55 years ago!

New white ceilings... the materials from a Princess TSMY which is almost identical to the original GB headlings.

Teak faced ply... should look good with some varnish...

Fairline 36 Sedan

I had a visit to Norfolk Yacht Agency yesterday to take a look at this Fairline 36 Sedan. These are very popular boats, built on the same hull as the Turbo if my memories correct. She has a huge accommodation for her size. The boat is based on a tried and tested hull and often owned by guys who work in the industry, which is always a good sign! Renowned to be very seaworthy.

Surveyors comments: Access into engine room! - Im still unsure how you would change the raw water pump impellors on the motors. They are squashed up against the forward engine room bulkhead.

Check for signs of overheat on the exhausts.
