When you want to insure a boat on the River Shannon, Ireland or have to renew an existing policy, your insurance company will need an Insurance Survey in order to determine its insurability for the intended use. This type of survey is often referred to as a Condition and Valuation Survey. The scope of an Insurance Survey approaches a Pre-Purchase Survey, but its focus is on structural integrity and safety and it is less detailed. Today's Survey was in Leros at our Greek base in the Aegean Islands. This boat seems to have found the sweet spot in several areas. It has an updated look that is not too radical, and its comfortable accommodations satisfy both form and function. Light-air performance is good, and I’d guess it could handle plenty more wind without much trouble.

Construction: Hull is solid hand-laid fiberglass reinforced with a one-piece structural grid. Additional reinforcement is added to the keel area and chainplate mounts. Deck is built using the Prisma (closed mold) resin-injection process.

Pros: Updated look, comfortable accommodations, good light-air performance.

Conns: Engine compartment was tight!
