Fairline 36 Sedan
I had a visit to Norfolk Yacht Agency yesterday to take a look at this Fairline 36 Sedan. These are very popular boats, built on the same hull as the Turbo if my memories correct. She has a huge accommodation for her size. The boat is based on a tried and tested hull and often owned by guys who work in the industry, which is always a good sign! Renowned to be very seaworthy.
Surveyors comments: Access into engine room! - Im still unsure how you would change the raw water pump impellors on the motors. They are squashed up against the forward engine room bulkhead.
Check for signs of overheat on the exhausts.

Lytton Discovery 850
I Surveyed this rare little boat today. I’ve only got two Surveys filled over 12 years or so on this cruiser! I think they originate from the Elysian 27 family. Maybe someone might correct me, but I think after Apple yard Lincoln of Ely went bust they started building boats as renamed Lytton Boat Building. They were built between 1978 & 1982, probably explaining their few numbers.
I found this great local site online of someone who completely refurbished one of these little cruisers bought from the famous Richardson’s site in Stalham. Take a look... http://www.dhorner.horning.org.uk/misslouisa.html |
Surveyors comments: Good, solid, well built boats that have lasted well. Perfect starter boats and great vale... if you can find one!

Motor Wherrys - Norfolk Broads
I often get Insurance Surveys coming through this time of year. This assignment was to inspect these two local Motor or Mud Wherrys, they are a class of work boat primarily used for transporting the results of dredging on the Norfolk Broads.
The Survey involves inspecting the bottom and chine plates which are scrapped clean, by general hammer soundings and by ultrasonic point residual thickness measurements taken at selected and random points.
Sacrificial anodes are also checked. An anode attached to a metal object, such as a boat helps to inhibit the hulls corrosion. The anode is electrolytically decomposed while the hull should remain free from damage
To receive a quote for a Ultrasound Survey, fill in the online survey enquiry form on my webpage, or contact me directly with you requirements.
Within the report, problems found during the survey are listed and information is given on their importance and recommendations for repair. All the thickness measurements made during the survey including their position will be recorded within the report.
